Ore Concentrate Filtration

After mine excavation, the mining process, forecasts to separate the valuable ore like iron ore, copper, zinc, molybdenum, coal concentrate etc.. from the undesired materials called tailings. This process is done in the ore concentrator plant or beneficiation plant. The main steps of the beneficiation process are crushing, milling, screening and the separation of the valuable ores like copper concentrate, zinc concentrate, iron ore concentrate, lead concentrate, fine coal or gold from the tailings.

The other stream of undesired materials is called slurry tailings that will go to the tailings management process or tailings management plant. Today the best available technology for the dewatering and filtration of the mineral concentres like copper concentrate, zinc concentrate, iron ore concentrate, lead concentrate, fine coal or gold is the membrane filter press technology. The membrane filter press equipped with the cake drying system allows to make the filtration and drying of the ore concentrate in one single step. Tailings Filtration and Management

The management of Slurry Tailings is an important challenge the mining sector is facing today. For sustainable mining practices, it is necessary to organise safe & environment friendly storage of the huge volume of tailings produced from the enrichment plants of copper, gold, iron ore, zinc etc. Additionally, an efficient tailings management offers the potential to recycle back process water of approx. 85-90% from tailings slurry resulting more water efficient concentrator.

Filter Press for Metal Refinery

Filter presses in metal refinery plants has a wide range of applications. In fact, in the metallurgical plant the filter press can be used

  • in the main production line or
  • in the filtration of waste residues resulting from the metal refining process.

Usually, the metal refinery plants receive from the mine a mineral concentrate like zinc concentrate, copper concentrate, bauxite etc. To extract and purify the metal contents from the mineral concentrate the metallurgical plants applies pyrometallurgical process or chemical process or combination of both again, electrowinning process. again, this processes produce slurry that Usually, be filtered by the filter press Usually, purify the metal. A typical case is the leaching process where some acid, like sulfuric acid is used in order to extract and transform the valuable metal from the solid phase to the liquid phase.
